In coastal rowing, routes are largely determined by tides, currents, and wind. Below is a detailed example of the tour from Lauwersoog to the marina of Schiermonnikoog and back.

Wind Analysis (South-West 4 Bft)

Outward Journey via Brakzand (Course NW): We are heading northwest towards the island via the Geul van Brakzand. With a southwesterly wind (Bft 4), we have a crosswind from the side/front.
